Artist’s Guide—Serendib Gallery

Working With Us

Serendib Gallery is a curated platform that seeks out artists whose work demonstrates a creative voice and technical commitment. We work across all visual art forms—painting, photography, drawing, illustration, printmaking, digital art, ceramics, sculpture, glasswork, and mixed media.

If you believe your work is a good fit for the gallery, we kindly invite you to introduce yourself—we will take it from there.

Why Serendib Gallery

We handle everything after the artwork leaves your hands—or your hard drive. Printing, packaging, shipping, insurance on originals, and visibility on a platform built around curation. You focus on the work. We take care of the rest.

Our commission structure reflects what we believe—that serious work deserves serious reward. Artists receive between 50% and 65% of the sale price, with the higher tiers reserved for significant works. There are no listing fees, no upfront costs, and no hidden charges.

We are a curated gallery. Your work will be presented with context, care, and editorial attention.

Consignment & Work Custody

For original artworks, we may arrange for the physical work to be held by the gallery or a trusted gallery partner prior to listing. This ensures quality control, professional packaging, and a seamless fulfilment process when a sale occurs.

This arrangement protects both the artist and the buyer—it guarantees the work is exactly as represented at the time of sale, and removes the logistical burden from the artist entirely.

Not all artists will be required to consign work. The arrangement depends on location, the nature of the work, and the relationship with the gallery. All consignment terms are agreed mutually and documented before any work is listed.

Commission Structure

We believe artists should be paid fairly. Our commission structure is transparent and performance-oriented—the artist’s share typically ranges between 50% and 65% of the sale price.

The specific split is determined by the nature of the work, its value, and the logistical requirements involved. There are no upfront listing fees or hidden charges. You are paid within 30 days of confirmed delivery to the buyer.

Prints & On-Demand Production

For photographic and digital works, we handle all print production through specialist fine art print studios. You submit a high-resolution file; we produce, package, and ship the print. You are not involved in the fulfilment process beyond supplying the file.

All prints are produced on archival paper using pigment ink, ensuring accurate colour reproduction and archival longevity. Every print is presented under the Serendib Gallery label and carries an artist-approved certification on the reverse.

Packaging & Shipping

We handle all packaging and shipping. All works are professionally packaged using archival materials and shipped worldwide with signature-required delivery at no cost to the buyer.

You do not need to source packaging materials, arrange couriers, or manage international shipping logistics. We take care of all of it.

Pricing Your Work

We work with you to set pricing that reflects the quality and significance of the work, is appropriate to your career stage, and is competitive within the international market.

We apply a minimum price floor across the gallery. This is not a ceiling—it is a foundation. Underpricing work damages the artist, the gallery, and the broader market for the art form.

We will never pressure you to reduce your prices. If we believe a work is mispriced in either direction, we will tell you our view and the decision remains yours.

Copyright & Your Rights

You retain full copyright over all works listed on Serendib Gallery. Listing your work with us does not transfer ownership of the intellectual property—it grants the gallery a licence to display, market, and sell the work on your behalf.

We may use images of your work for promotional purposes—on the website, in editorial content, and across social media. This usage is limited to promoting your work and the gallery. We will never license your images to third parties without your explicit written consent.

All work submitted for assessment is viewed in confidence and deleted once a decision has been communicated to the applicant. Submitted work is not retained for any other purpose, including future reconsideration, which requires a new submission.

Editorial & Magazine

Serendib Magazine is the editorial arm of the gallery. We publish writing on art, culture, and the creative process. If you are interested in contributing an article, an artist’s statement, or a response to another piece, we welcome submissions.

All editorial decisions are made independently. Representation by the gallery does not guarantee editorial coverage, and editorial coverage does not imply commercial endorsement. We maintain a clear separation between the gallery and the magazine.

Your Data & Privacy

When you apply for or enter into a representation agreement with Serendib Gallery, we collect the information necessary to manage that relationship—your contact details, banking information for payment, and images of your work.

Your name, biography, and artwork images will be displayed publicly on the gallery website as part of your artist profile and product listings. All other personal information is held privately and is not shared with third parties beyond what is necessary to process payments and fulfil orders.

For full details, see our Privacy Policy in the Legal section.

Code of Conduct

We ask all artists represented by Serendib Gallery to act with integrity in their relationship with the gallery and its buyers. This includes—but is not limited to—not selling works that are listed on the gallery through other channels at a lower price, not approaching or selling directly to buyers introduced through the gallery, not misrepresenting the provenance or condition of a work, and not withdrawing a listed work after a sale has been made.

We understand that artists operate under real financial pressures. If you are facing a situation that may affect your listed works, come to us first. We would rather find a solution together than discover a problem after the fact.

Serious breaches of conduct will result in the immediate removal of all works from the gallery and termination of the representation agreement.

Contact & Support

We are here to support your practice and your career. If you have questions about your listings, a sale, payment, or anything else, reach out through our Contact page. We aim to respond within two business days.
